JEE Advanced 2014 toppers gave IIT KGP and Kanpur a miss
New Delhi: JEE Advanced 2014 was organised by IIT Kharagpur – the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) of India. Now, with the first round of seat allotments in IITs are over, it has come to light that none of the Top 100 rank holders in JEE Advanced 2014 (equivalent to IIT JEE held earlier) chose IIT Kharagpur. IIT Kanpur and IIT Guwahati also got none of the candidates with All India Rank (AIR) equal to or less than #100.
IIT Bombay emerged as the most preferred choice for more than 60% IIT aspirants in the Top 100 rank list. Chitraang Murdia from Kota, who is the topper of JEE Advanced this year, chose IIT Bombay too. At IIT-B, the first choice of most students was Computer Science Engineering. Electrical Engineering was the second most preferred choice for soon-to-be IITians.
IIT Delhi was the second most preferred IIT. Here too, Computer Science Engineering was the most preferred engineering branch followed by Electrical Engineering stream.
IIT Madras slid down the list of the toppers as well. It has got very few toppers this year. Even though IIT-M is best known for its Mechanical Engineering department, ME at IIT-M did not manage to get any student from even the Top 200 rank holders in IIT JEE 2014 General Category Merit List.
