IT Students Bag Rs 23 Lakh Package
All right! Gone are the days when only IITs were synonymous with fat pay packages in the country. The time is fast changing and to prove it is the news of 23 students from Patiala bagging the annual salary package of up to Rs. 23 lakhs.
These lucrative offers have been made by top global companies such as Samsung and Microsoft during campus placement. These 23 students are IT students of a Patiala based university.
The highest package of Rs. 23 lakh was bagged by 12 students. They were hired as web designers by Japanese IT firm Hikari Tsushin for its Tokyo office.
DE Shaw India offered the second highest annual package of Rs. 18.4 lakhs to two students. Microsoft and Samsung hired four and five students with an annual package starting from Rs. 16 lakh.
According to the university, 687 students got job offers from 103 top global and Indian firms during the current campus placement drive.
Higher salary packages were offered to students of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Mathematics and Computer Applications, Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering Department.
“Students of both undergraduate and post-graduate courses have excelled in their respective disciplines, a fact which has been recognised by recruiters in the current placement season,” Prakash Gopalan, Director of Thapar University, said.
“Our job-oriented courses are tailored to meet the growing and ever-changing needs of the industry,” he added.
According to the data, IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hired 103 students, followed by Infosys Technologies (61), IBM (44).
L&T Construction, Sandisk Corporation, Deloitte Consulting India, EXL Services, and Freescale Semi-Conductors Ltd. were other prominent recruiters during the campus placement drive.
